Dancing in the Échelons

A live dance performance and film that explores spaces between spaces within the mangrove forest of Lake Connewarre on Wadawurrung lands in Barwon Heads, Australia. Through embodied experience and dance ritual this choreographic investigation into the ecology of place explores the inner landscape of sacred spaces between the light and shade.

FACILITATED BY:

Jacqui is an ecochoreologist, multidisciplinary artist, and community arts practitioner in choreography and percussion with Wild Moves International. Her inspiration draws from nature and the environment, exploring the ecology of place and embodied experience through dance ritual at the intersection of sound, movement, poetry, and film.

A compact live painting performance to the music in Chai tent which visually engages in a serene way while adding colour, beauty and ambience. 

FACILITATED BY:

Katia Honour creates artworks during the festival which are inspired by the performances, music, conversations and realisations brewing in the Chai tent. She is a trained mystic and classical painter who engages the senses and spirit to bring her beautiful visions into form.

Witness the goddess of the elements, a  UV painting that changes from day to night. Explore the Gallery of Georgia Mihnjak in the Arts & Crafts space, try on the 3D Glasses to view from a different perspective & meet the artist & buy prints on Sunday at 3pm

Energyfreq - Georgia is a Melbourne based psychedelic visionary artist. She has always had a fascination with people, their bodies and the energy that they give and receive. Her focus is on love and interconnectedness with the universe, nature and how our souls interact. Using acrylic, watercolour, ink, uv and glow in the dark paint.

Sit with Me

A woven human figure, seated, inviting participants/guests to sit with her. She will be moved to various spots during the festival to surprise and delight - sharing her space and sitting mat with whover is drawn to be with her. She will invite by means of her fairy lights which cover her body at night, providing illumination for those who share her space, as well as offer an altar space to place special objects. 

FACILITATED BY:

Rene Bahloo has over 15 years of weaving/ facilitating/ creating/ healing practice. She is dedicated to life, as it unfolds in each moment in its intricate aliveness, and loves sharing her philosophies for the benefit of all.

Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. Entering the serpentine path of a labyrinth, you walk slowly while quieting your mind and focusing on a spiritual question or prayer.

Magic Mandalas is a stunning hula hoop, LED and fire performer, dripping in divine femininity. Magic Mandalas bewitches audiences with her jaw dropping skill set and has performed internationally as well as at events and festivals across Australia.

Sewical Heartists

This is a craft activity creating pocket stitched hearts of love and good intention. Inspired by the 1000 Heart Project created by Sarah De Jonge. The idea is that we gather to embrace the art of slow stitching, creating a pocket heart stitched for ourselves, a friend, for someone to find as well as contribute to the Free Hearts Program

FACILITATED BY:

Nancylee Merzel is a quilter and textile artist of over 25 years experience. A passionate hand stitcher that embraces the arts of the past and the stories of makers. Nancylee has been involved in collaborative works including the ThreadIN project (2019) as part of the 16 days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, lead by Jessie Deane, and is also a Prevention Practitioner and Project Coordinator.

Orly Raquel

Orly Raquel is a songstress, poetess and psychotherapist. She weaves stories and poetry through acoustic melodies to create a dreamy and sensual mood. She explores themes of love, desire, femininity and archetypes of the collective unconscious.

 

She recently released her debut album ‘Venus ~ Born of the Sea’. She is currently based in Melbourne.

WaX FoX made her debut pushing vinyl during a house party in Brixton. Her signature mix of fun breaks, house, techno, tech house, funk, soul and a sprinkling of disco has been getting dance floors pumping for decades. WaX FoX is a Gemini, seasoned shuffler, loves a Bush Doof, wears size 10 shoes and recently watched Titanic for the first time.

 

WaX FoX is a Co-founder of the Vinyl Vixens DJ collective and is the self-confessed funky half of DJ duo Tuner Sandwich with the incredible OMG Becky.

Heart to Heart, Centre to Centre, Bass to Bass. WildSacred, Tribal Bass & Swampy beats catalyse energy on the dance floor and transport your journey all the way. Rivka is known for her creation of deep dance journey sets. As a conscious dance facilitator and community dance practitioner, she holds space, teaching classes in Adelaide, Melbourne and Northern Territory including workshops for several music festivals including Rainbow Serpent (Vic), Luminate (NZ) Earthartbeat (Vic) & Yumaanda (Vic).

Memory of Yasha's Lullaby

Noriko Tadano is an award-winning, virtuoso master of the Japanese Shamisen. She will perform Memory of Yasha’s Lullaby, a piece that tells a historical story of an innocent girl who experiences immense suffering and must confront countless issues, many that women still face to this current day. Despite her relentless resilience, the trauma becomes too great and she transforms into a vengeful demon (Yasha) full of anger and sadness.  Is this simply her fate, or can she choose another destiny?

Singer/songwriter and witchy woman Wolf Arrow Rain is returning to us at Seven Sisters to perform the set of magical folk songs from her upcoming album ‘The Arrow Of Time’, set be released in March.  With the combination of ritual theatre, poetry, ethereal vocals and classical guitar Wolf will have audience
both enthralled and delighted. The Arrow of Time relates to the journey of a human soul over the course of the year and all of the emotions that one may feel as the seasons pass. It is inspired by the cycle of life and the Wiccan Wheel of the Year along with its celebrations.

Luka Rock is a 14 year old singer songwriter, who plays guitar and ukulele. Luka’s style is acoustic, she writes her own songs and is inspired by artists like Taylor Swift, Sara Kays and Grace Vanderwaal.

 

Luka won the 7 Sisters open mic in 2020.

Two sisters, a childhood spent together in the forest of Dja dja Wurrung country, listening to their dad’s eclectic Indian bass music collection.

 

These two have loved similar sounds from a young age, growing up to collaborate on musical journeys of their own, playing at ecstatic dances, clubs and festivals. Sometimes playing separately as 'Rada' and 'Ishtar', the two goddesses unite under the banner of Sisters and bring to you music that will have you surrender to movement and play.

Robynne Clark
(Open Mic Winner 2020)

Robynne won the open mic competition at Seven sisters 2020. In the past she was involved with various bands doing weddings, private functions and other gigs around Melbourne.

 

She has since retired from the night life and now spends most of her time song writing, playing guitar, volunteering in animal and wildlife rescue, gardening, working in disability and raising her two teenage daughters. She will be performing a mix of originals and covers from her favourite female artists.

Carolyn Mandersloot's comedy is like having a good biscuit and a cup of tea with your hilarious best friend. Only better. She weaves together a narrative exploring the grand complexities and challenges of the human experience- birth, life, death and parenting teenagers.

 

Carolyn draws her experience of palliative care nursing to deftly hold a compassionate space in which audiences can laugh at the both the unthinkable and the undeniable.

Photo attached. Bio: For well over a decade and a half Miss Behaviour, a signed label producer from Strict Recordings, has played all over Australia. Showcasing every genre, she knows exactly how to get a crowd rowdy! Primarily she formulates a jump up 'minimal' style with tendencies of getting off topic with future house, breaks or drum and bass.

After her release of "Sub Primal Ep" Miss B joined forces during covid to make a musical trio called Gravity Corporation, which is space themed dance bangers! Keep an eye out for this music as its original production and amazing!
